Shantaram

10 of the 14 Indian American spelling bee winners are brahmins

All 3 of the Indian finalists in 2012 are brahmins

Brahmins have a 4000 year genetic selection towards memorisation

If memorization is the trick then the kids from the madarassas should be able to win. They memorize the entire Koran.

BTW it is not true all of these 10 kids are Brahmins.

In reality the ONLY Brahmins - true to their traits - are Tambrahmis. All other Brahmins are low-class Brahmins..Razz

Looks like you are disappointed that not every winner is a Tambram! Once fashion secular vocabulary is iducted into the contest, DKheads will start winning and Tambrams may move out of the US to bless Antarctica!

Dayalu Amman doesn't like to attend the court to testify. It seems even DKheads are expecting to be treated like Tambrams of yesteryears! Extrapolating this, can we conclude that the grandchildren of Laloo/Rabri, Mulayam, Sibel, Chidambaram, YSR, KCR, CBN, ShibuSoren, Kanimozhi, Raja, Maran, etc., will write puranas, manu dharma sastras, itihasas, etc.?

** I like this comment from slate: "Why is Swamihamanaranda Bhupopotal so good at spelling, you ask." I think it sums up the reason why Indians are good at this, these kids are probably bilingual at home, good at transliteration (from tamil to English) and in addition to this if they learn some greek and latin roots and Yiddish words, they're set. So for starters, give your kid a nice southern indian name like Panduranga Vittala Rao. His understanding of language is surely going to be superior to that of Neil Patel or Ajay Rao.
