Indonesian muslims have no qualms about naming their kids Saraswati, Savitri, Rama, etc. Even in India some christians (especially Seventh Day Adventists) have part of their names as Hindu (Paul Eswar, James Prasad, Danial Prabhakar, etc.).

Leaving aside Zed, the point is that they embrace this history, unlike a majority of sub-continental Muslims, who are taught in their Madrassas nothing about this heritage. I can understand Medieval Barbarians of Pakistan to behave like that. But Muslims in India need not, it is a fact and they need to embrace this. Indonesian Muslims (atleast majority of them) have proved that you can be a Muslims while appreciating the Hindu heritage. Otherwise we are going to see incidents like what happened in Bamiyan and Maldives and J&K repeated all over India, in the years to come. Ideally if heritage is part of the Madrassa curriculum, I feel the communal riot situation will be less a problem in future. However there is a concerted effort being made to import Mullahs from Islamic Supremacist Countries who "Urduize" the curriculum and effectively make the Madrassas where Islamic Fundamentalism Flourish with Salafist / Wahabi Ideologies creeping in.

Unlike China, India has no policies to monitor what goes on Madrassas.

2 things. Indonesia became an iSlamic country not through coercion but when its king embraced islam centuries ago, and he did not go around the country swinging his sword at every head.

The Indian muslims ( for simplicity that includes all of Akhand Bharathia muslims) were converted through force/coercion (it is all a bullshyt they converted voluntarily out of love - bcz the lower castes could hardly read/write or had time to listen to preaching). These converts wanted to ape the converters and always want to be accepted as their equals forcing them to resort to Koranish behaviour. The Indonesians look half chinku and know they will never ever be accepted as equal no matter how much they tried - and hence simply dont try. Just look at the SL muslims - they simply dumped Tamil (the youngsters dont speak), adapted Urdu and trying to be like Pakis who in turn are trying to be act like masters of the all of Bharathiya muslims.

Those who dont have self-esteem will sell anything - their language, religion, name, culture, etc..of course, they will give "valid" reasons for all their actions.
