Excerpts
There are two ways to source power for air conditioning—power cars that use diesel and AC coaches that generate power from the speed of a train.

Did not know until now that A/C Coaches in regular trains were powered by the speed of the train.  Not sure how this works though. I am assuming that the movement of the wheels is used to drive a generator, which would generate electricity.
In addition,  the generated power would have to be stored, and then used up when the train stops, and thus it would have a limit on amount of time it can power the air conditioner.

Looks like he forgot to clean up his transcript from his thesis chapter. Starts with section 3.1.

Oh well whatever.....With sun shining much of the time and in much of the country, ICF should look into rooftop solar cells. Of course, this may pose a problem in Naarth as people travel on rooftops.
