2.   Mother blasts army. (4)  
3.   Sing a song. (5) 
4.   Torn badly about name for trimming. ( 8 ) 
5.   Sucker plant to pucker up beneath. (9) 
6.   Distance in India about right for sign. (5) 
7.   Spanish saint after clause with no end for gift giver. (5, 5) 
8.   Girl adds the French edge for city. (9)

Yeah, I thought something was amiss. Otherwise half the set may have been solved by now. Even better, this set being easy, may be all of it.

Ya, she got really good at this pretty quickly, turning the tables on the ones who ridiculed her and accused her of having a proxy solve them for her. Chaala baadha padindi kaani gattiga nilabadindi. Ippudu vaallanta mokhalu chaatestunnaru.

She won't be back until two weeks. But who knows, she may log in from india and solve these.

Update. Only 3 clues remain to be solved. By this time you would have guessed the theme of this set. That makes it easy to solve the remaining.
