?????
The original "Missamma" was in Telugu and its copy "Missiamma" was in Tamil and later it was made in Hindi as "Miss Mary".
Saluri Rajeswara Rao was the music director (for Telugu and Tamil versions). In the song you posted, the music of Saluri was copied by Hemant Kumar. In case Hindians :-) don't know, Saluri Rajeswara Rao was one of the greatest music directors in S India.
Here is one of his 1943 compositions (singers: Jikki and Ghantasala):

Here is another (Malleswari) in 1950 (singers: Bhnumati and Ghantasala):

Vipra Narayana from 1954 (singers: Bhanumati and A M Raja):

In the Hindi version ('Miss Mary'), Karunanidhi is listed as a star in the credits. I want to know in which scene (in the Youtube -- timewise) he is acting?

May be Uppili can find that for you. Karunanidhi was a very famous screen writer in Tamil movies. I would say, his work in movies was superb compared to his political work as a DKhead.

This Karunanidhi is a different actor (not the one who is playing the piano, who is Gemini Ganesan. This guy is a side actor who is just in this clip for only few seconds (I guess the guy with the hat) is also has the name Karunanidhi. Mr.Goggles (DKhead ) is good in Tamil literature/poetry but I donot think he has any connections to this movie.

The name Karunanidhi mentioned in the credits of this movie (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwOpIoS7lG4) certainly seems to be that of the famous Tamil movies script writer and later TN chief minister Karunanidhi, considering especially that this movie ('Miss Mary') was released by the Madras / Chennai based AVM Productions and even had other famous TNer movie stars Jamuna and Ganesh in the key roles.FluteHolder wrote:This Karunanidhi is a different actor (not the one who is playing the piano, who is Gemini Ganesan. Are we talking about the possibility of one person having two separate pages on his life / career on the internet, one as actor and other as politician etc.?
Re: Karunanidhi in a Hindi movie, 'Miss Mary' (1957)
The 2nd person on the top pic is another supporting/comedy actor who has the same name as former cm of TN who is in the pic above with goggles. Hope this clarifies seva

The original Missamma (and Missiamma) was made by Vijaya Pictures. AVM got remake rights for Miss Mary in Hindi.Seva Lamberdar wrote:The name Karunanidhi mentioned in the credits of this movie (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwOpIoS7lG4) certainly seems to be that of the famous Tamil movies script writer and later TN chief minister Karunanidhi, considering especially that this movie ('Miss Mary') was released by the Madras / Chennai based AVM Productions and even had other famous TNer movie stars Jamuna and Ganesh in the key roles.FluteHolder wrote:This Karunanidhi is a different actor (not the one who is playing the piano, who is Gemini Ganesan. Why don't you write to Karunanidhi himself. He will probably be very happy that someone from Himachal Pradesh living in Toronto wants to know about his old work (if he was really involved).

I give up. Why don't you do what guruvu-garu suggests above?

FH, I am going to agree with you, HA and G_K that there are / were two different guys with the same name Karunanidhi associated with the movie industry in Madras. Anyway, the photos you are showing here are not of much use (in one photo the guy is young and in the other old and they both have mustache)

the comedian is A. Karunanidhi while the other is M. Karunanidhi - the former's comedy was as bad as the latter's random rhyming, staccatic prose which is totally overrated.

Re: Karunanidhi in a Hindi movie, 'Miss Mary' (1957)
Good idea, Sandilya. It's about time someone sent him a letter from H.P. (north India) asking him about his acting in the Hindi movies long ago.Vakavaka Pakapaka wrote:The original Missamma (and Missiamma) was made by Vijaya Pictures.
