A family friend of ours in Canada, a female (around 60 yrs. in age and of Indian origin), has developed a serious kidney problem due to high blood pressure. There is not much the family can do except controlling her diet chiefly. The kidney transplant here seems to have about 10 yr. wait. Does anyone know of any desi (Ayurvedic, for example) or other kind of treatment / cure for this condition (in India or elsewhere)? All suggestions welcome. TIA.

my suggestion: don't go ayurvedic or yogic or homeopathic or anything other than a proper physician. everything else is a decent supplement as long as it doesn't interfere with the meds.

Is she on medication for high blood pressure? What kind of tests are done on the kidney to assess the damage? Is she also a diabetic? Usually, blood pressure can be controlled with modern medication. Is she following the physician's advice properly?

10 yr wait for a transplant?!

How about trying the Jindal Nature cure Hospital in Bengaluru (where Kejriwal was treated recently) or an Ayurvedic treatment place in Kerala? However, she should not think that they are an alternative to modern medicine. She can try them while getting treatment in Canada as well, I think.
