nothing rolling stone hasn't covered for 40+ yrs. who cares about "stole"...every artist is influenced by someone that came before them. what's open to discussion is whether they've acknowledged the influences or not, which also has been discussed in press ad nauseam. led zeppelin elevated to stratosphere every song (whether they wrote or not) another realm with their amazing artistry. individually there may have been better musicians but as a band they are untouchable.

the problem with led zeppelin is the lack of acknowledgement. people like clapton painstakingly acknowledge the debt they owe to the delta blue and chicago blues musicians. led zep have copied without giving a rat's ass to the source music.

here's an example of the contrast between led zep and say clapton when it comes to paying a proper debt of gratitude. and i am not just talking about what's legal and what's not.

outside of his work with cream, clapton's guitar work is one of the most boring to my ears. he might be a technical virtuoso but boring and non-inventive. zeppelin and stones's guitar is far, far, far more interesting.

PS: he's one of the biggest two faced assholes on the planet, google clapton & enoch powell. so much for paying debt of gratitude and saying keep them out of britain.

you understand the blues artists themselves "borrowed" from their predecessors left and right without acknowledging the source, right?
