.......explain why different food items are placed in exactly the same place on each leaf. Also, why is there no rice yet on them? Let us see how many SuChers are Sikular in their knowledge of traditions........

It looks like the rice is served last, so that people don't start eating before everyone gets served everything (side dishes etc.) and saying the meal prayer together.

That sounds like a practical reason Sevaji but VPji probably knows the ritualistic reason for this. Waiting to hear the answer.
Regarding laying out the items in a particular order - found this info with a google search.

not necessarily..one particular sect of a select community places cooked rice first, serves ghee next, before anything else Wink
