How is your Toronto team doing? Is Brian Birk wasting money like he did in the past? Do any Canadian teams have a chance to win the cup this year?

It seems the Maple Leafs have a better chance of making the playoffs this year, with each Conference allotted two more playoff berths (10 instead of 8 previously) and a shortened regular season schedule (about 48 games instead of 82). Teams will have a less chance to screw up things. With shortened season, there are also more contenders for the Stanley Cup this year in Canada and the U.S. (including Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver).

I think Edmonton may surprise everyone this year.

What happened to the Luongo trade? Apparently, Brian Birk is in love with they guy and is willing to part with some young talent of Maple Leafs.

Yes, Edmonton Oilers seem to have drawn the attention of many people with young and talented players on the team.

The Luongo trade talk (to Maple Leafs) so far seems only as a media curiosity. Anyway, there are going to be lot of trades in the next two weeks, before the short season starts.
