Not necessarily.... If the issue became open, he would not have any standing int he community. So he will hush it up...BUT..

he will quietly find ways to take care of the guy, find himself "additional" mistresses, ignore, isolate and abuse life-long his "corrupted" wife.

Mrs. Vanniyars are just as much corruptible as anyone else.
