An ant can kill an elephant
An ant can kill an elephant.
What does it mean?
My previous post talked about - You can get an elephant but not feed him?
Why did this ant enter my thought?
Ant symbolizes humility, while this elephant that we try to buy in terms of 7 bedroom mansion, a bigger TV, a German car etc. represents our ego, a fundamentally fake way to feel better about ourselves.
An elephant may kill 100 deers, but stands defeated in front of a very very small ant.
Humility is that ant.
random musings,
TS.

Unkil, foster and grow that ant-sized humility of yours by not posting these random musings. Broadcasting one's musings is also a sign of ego. Curb that urge. Help your ant defeat your elephant. Reward your achievement with one more swig of two-dollar hooch.

How? Explanation needed here.TruthSeeker wrote:

I thought it was the rat in the Panchatantra story, not ant.

Re: An ant can kill an elephant
No no it was an ant. Once an ant gets into an elephant's trunk they cannot do anything and die. That's what I remember from the stories.
Btw to OP. Elephants don't kill deers. They don't kill anybody unless provoked.

You gotta be more abstract here. Elephant is ego. Ant is humility. Humility kills ego. What 100 things does ego kill?Merlot Daruwala wrote:They are those aerospace engineers turned code-coolies living in 2-bedroom rentals, owning tiny 30-inch television sets and driving second-hand Honda Civics.Vidya Bagchi wrote:Very nice. Re: An ant can kill an elephant
Uff you code-coolies just can't see the forest for the trees. This is not about elephants or deer or about killing. This is about one's "self". And how our ego can blind us to that "self".Vidya Bagchi wrote:Btw to OP. Elephants don't kill deers. They don't kill anybody unless provoked.
What you need, lady is more humility. Then you'd see your own true "self". Reflect on that.

Re: An ant can kill an elephant
Now you have me confused. I thought the only thing that ego kills is humility. Ego might also kill relationships, but that is irrelevant here because we are only talking about ourselves and our true "selves" and no third party. Hmm...very puzzling indeed.Vidya Bagchi wrote:You gotta be more abstract here. Elephant is ego. Ant is humility. Humility kills ego. Re: An ant can kill an elephant
Can an ant kill an elephant ??? how ?
- well for one, the elephant could be highly allergic to ant venom...but also, ants are known to carry shotguns in the back of their pick up trucks.
- it crawls up it's trunk and bites it's brain!

Re: An ant can kill an elephant
oh! I thought it was the rat/mouse which can go through the nostrils of the elephant's trunk, reach the brain and create havoc. So an ant can do that too?
Anyway, so humility is the antidote to ego? How does one develop humility? Serious question to TS.

The ant doesn't need to enter an elephant's brain to kill him. The little critter can create havoc by entering through other openings too.

Ya, I r'ber an aunt saying that once a big black ant had gone into her ear and drove her nuts. I think the remedy to that (for humans) is to pour water or warm oil into the ear so the ant suffocates and dies.indophile wrote:The ant doesn't need to enter an elephant's brain to kill him. A biker such as yourself, who rides on one of the serenest bike routes, you should share your philosophy too. You must have learned many lessons from the nature n it's beauty. Or did you just pass by thinking about work n worries?

Thanks for all your replies.
Whether an ant can kill an elephant or not, depends on what you were told as a kid, but it is not my post.
My post is about - However small in appearance - whether humility can kill ego or not?
I have nothing against elephants, and I have no special liking for ants either.
Again, folks who are lost in "words" or "poster" but fail to gather the "meaning", aint my kind. Please stay away, for your simple lack of basic IQ (not said in my ego/elephant, but I honestly waste my time with that low level IQ folks).
Focus on the meaning and post.
If you cannot, please stay away.
You are wasting yours and my time. You are neither elephant, nor the ant.
You are the deer.
I have repeatedly said that.
Now - coming to my post - and what I really wanted to discuss about -
Can Humility kill Ego?
Can ONLY humility kill ego?
Regards,
TS.

Satto!
@Seven - I travel Nature's best routes. True. But I drive rented cars, however fancy they are. My own car is worth merely $1200.
For me, its not the car I drive, but the road I take.
How have you been, O lovable one?
Best wishes,
TS.

@FH - Thanks.
Guruji "appeals" to me.
Just 2 Qs -
1. Does he have any explanation on "extreme pain in life" ? (e.g. a parent losing their grown up child? and so on?)
2. Reincarnation
TIA,
TS.

Re: An ant can kill an elephant
TS, another thing to think about... Why should one seek to kill ego at all? What if ego is an essential feature of a human being? I can see how too much ego is a bad thing, but too little ego results in lack of self worth and other serious problems.
Too much body weight is a problem and can accelerate your death through disease, and worsen your quality of life. But trying to eliminate all body weight will accelerate your death even more, and make your remaining life living hell.

I think he has answers/explanation to most questions. There are lots of videos to search/seek. I guess these 2 questions are asked/answered in few or more videos but may not be in exact words or sense. I will try to post them if I find them. I remember the dialogue from Sholay on bhoj kya jaane - death of a child. (I think Hangal's son dies).TruthSeeker wrote:@FH - Thanks.

Re: An ant can kill an elephant
@Idefix - I like you. You not only think out of the box originally, but also do not follow any baba and baby without questioning.
Is ego always bad? Is a little ego good? and more ego bad? Is a little humility good, and more humility bad? Ego is Ego, and humility is humility. What is a little lie? Over truth?
The "degree" of ANY "quality" does NOT change its core "NATURE". A truth is a truth, and a lie is a lie. Justifying a lie with "smaller" consequence does NOT make it a smaller lie, in "NATURE", but only in consequence.
Ego, Humility, Lie, Truth, are ALL in "NATURE" - a Quality - not to be confused by their QUANTITY, and never to be justified as such.
G'nite.
For what is 10% a lie to you, could change someone else's life 140%.
Regards,
TS.

Re: An ant can kill an elephant
Very true. Life is binary. There's either life. Or death. You're either pregnant. Or not. Drunk. Or sober. So the fundamental question remains: what kills ego. Is it only the anti-ego? Or could it be the Id? Or the Super Ego?? Unless one disaggregates the "self" into its components, how does answer this question? But to do that, one has to discover one's "self". So we're back to square one. Uff. This is too much. Pass me some two-dollar hooch.TruthSeeker wrote:Is ego always bad? Is a little ego good? and more ego bad? PS: These babas and babies keep throwing obstacles in the path of the "true" seekers of "self". Now they want to deny the "seeker" his bar. What next? Total prohibition?? No more two-dollar hooch??

i think you are getting QUALITY and QUANTITY mixed up. you think that a certain QUANTITY of body weight is necessary but what's important is its QUALITY. think about it more. consult sadhguru-who-knows-it-all if not clear.Idéfix wrote:TS, another thing to think about... Humility is a higher form of intelligence!
India produces academically intelligent kids. Year after year.
Kids who know that Force = Mass x Acceleration, at age 7.
But what else do they know?
Intelligence is above knowledge.
You may read 100 books, and be knowledgeable.
But what did you learn reading these books?
Thats Intelligence. Comprehension. Understanding.
But what's above it?
Humility is a higher form of intelligence!
The intelligence to know, and be humble about it.
[Psst... folks who put down others repeatedly are the most foolish! as thats the only way they know to feel good about self]
Please do NOT get personal, but think in your own life, as to why you do what you do.
Regards,
TS.
