communists and rss ( yes that is correct) say it is liberation day.

KCR wants a foothold in Hyderabad. He is awfully weak in the capital of Telangana. He thinks he rectify his situation with old city muslim support.
Muslims don't want their Nizam shown up as a bad guy. Celebrating Sept. 17 does just that.
KCR only until recently was giving animated speeches that AP govt. was not celebrating Telangana Liberation Day (Sept. 17) with enough fanfare.
Now he is putting his "principles" aside to gain a few brownie points for political accommodation.

Who did Telangana (?) get liberated from on Sept. 17?

Nizam. Nizam was the Hyderabad ruler at the time of independence. Hyderabad included the present Telangana, Maratwada in Maharashtra, and a few districts in Karnataka at that time. It's population was 90+% Hindu. Nizam refused to join the Indian union and he wanted to be independent or join Pakistan. He also had an employee/advisor named Qasim Razvi (originally from Latur in Maharashtra) who staryted a band of ruffians called Razakars who committed all kinds of atrocitiies at free will all over the Hyderabad state. Then Sardar Patel sent in Indian Army under Maj Gen. Chowdary and they put a stop to this nonsense, and Hyderabad became an Indian state. That happened on Sept. 17. That was to be celebrated as the Hyderabad Liberation Day. KCR's party used to raise their voices year after year that the AP govt. was not properly celebrating that day. And now they are in power, and they are doing the same thing to pander to the muslims in Hyderabad, because their party is weak in Hyderabad, the capital of the state.

Why will mim voter vote for kcr if they can vote for mim itself?
this strategy emboldened mim to say the liberation day is a betrayal day.
only daruwala and cd can explain why it is a betrayal day.

I don't think KCR has any delusions about muslims getting up and actually voting for him. He wants their support as a check for his other political opponents - Congress, BJP, TDP, Lok Satta, Communists, etc. (I am not sure about Jagan Reddy; is he a friend or foe to KCR?). Didn't KCR recently grant Sania Mirza another 1 crore (making it 2 crores in 2 months)?

Long time ago Orissa had a CM named Biren Mitra (a Bengali with a Telugu wife was the CM of Orissa!). He too used to lead a Nawabi (call it Bengali aristocratic) lifestyle. But he never cared for political gain. He too used to give away other peoples money or things to augment his positives before his judgment day. An example often quoted is - A poor guy approaches him and says he cannot afford to buy milk for his baby. Biren dada would look at the yonder with tears in his eyes and spots a cow grazing with a young calf. He orders the staff to donate that cow and calf to the poor guy. But the cow belonged to another poor guy..... and so the story goes.

Similarities - they both gave away other peoples money without asking first.
Differences - Biren Mitra gave to poor, but KCR gave to rich and pampered. Mitra was not after political brownie points, but KCR was after political gain.

telangana liberation involved andhra mahasabha , communists and rss . It is a very dear issue for many old people. kcr is now ready to sell off such precious moment for imagined political gains. i hope history teaches him a lesson.
