Well it was mostly about statistics and how you present those number to say tax breaks for families eclipse the benefits for special interests. Washington Post is not allowing me to read it again, so I cannot add any more.

Statistics is just a tool. You can use it properly or misuse it.
Incentives to middle class is not bad as they could be stimulative. However all tax breaks, mortgage tax breaks or medicare, should be with in reasonable constraints. Breaks should become entitlements and become a financial burden on society.
While high taxes are anti growth, as we have seen in all semi socialistic countries like India pre 1990s, minor shifts in tax brackets may not create growth momemntum. Tax breaks of early 2000 failed to do much for the economy.
