gurtu is a monster percussionist. zakir hussain once remarked that had he stuck to the tabla, gurtu would have turned out to be greatest ever tabla player, but he is much bigger than that. his imagination and vocal percussion really take incredible flights of fancy in this album. if you've heard the live album with john mclaughlin and kai eckardt this is along those lines but even better. all in all a thrilling album.
