Should underwater archeology be taught in IITs? Empty Should underwater archeology be taught in IITs?

I was looking at the course list for Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering (N.A. & O.E.) at IIT Madras. The department has all kinds of courses, but none on underwater exploration and archaeology. That's quite surprising considering there is a huge potential and demand for such research / investigations (including doctoral level studies) in the neighborhood of IIT Madras itself, including near the south-eastern coast of India around Tamil Nadu where the land and old culture had submerged in ocean with the rise in sea level. Something for IIT Madras (N.A. & O.E.) authorities to consider!

As the ocean levels rise with increasing atmospheric temperatures (global warming), they will pose a threat to land mass near the sea with the likelihood of its sinking in water due to deteriorating environment. This raises the possibility of greater interest and emphasis on underwater / offshore explorations and archaeological studies during the times ahead.
