Among the many religious experiments of Mughal Emperor Akbar, a peculiar one was his order to some of the scholars in his court to compose a contemporary Upanisad in a bid to foster H-M synthesis in his kingdom. Thus the Allah Upanisad or Allopanishad was born.

The central idea in the Allah Upanisad is that God is one and that there is no difference between the Allah of Islam and the Brahman (God) described in the Upanisads.
