A member of President Trump’s legal team said on Sunday that the president was not under investigation by the special counsel looking into Russian meddling in the election, despite a tweet from Mr. Trump on Friday that seemed to acknowledge that he was a subject of the inquiry. Jay Sekulow, who is part of a group of personal lawyers Mr. Trump has hired to respond to the special counsel, said the president was merely responding to reports in the news media that said he was now a subject of the expanding investigation.
