That cop seems a trigger happy person. If the victim hadn't told that he has a firearm and then if it appeared as he reached into the glovebox to take out the registration documents, he would have shot him dead too. A sad, lose-lose situation for the victim and his ilk. Plus, the cop seems a prejudiced type too - in his mind the victim was probably the robber suspect that was going around so the cop didn't hesitate to shoot him.
At-least when they are dealing with people seated in a car with no firearm in their hand, shouldn't the cops be told to shoot with taser first? If it is an alley or a open area, then shooting with a real gun is understandable but in this case the victim is sitting in a car surrounded by 2 cops.

With a three year old girl and a woman also in the car.
If the victim wasn't black I doubt the cop would have done the same thing.

Absolutely not. He would have been let go with a gentle warning not to drive around after doing pot.

It is sad and totally avoidable. Is it not that an unsaid rule or safety, to just keep the hands in the steering wheel when stopped by a cop? Why would he reach for his wallet after telling the cop he has a gun. Nowadays no registration docs are asked (I believe) the licence plate will tell about everything about your registration/expiration.silvermani wrote:That cop seems a trigger happy person.
