Of course, missamma is by the genius director K.V Reddy. Feel so bad that he died early due to Tuberculosis. In this day and age, he could've easily survived. Wonder if he had lived a few more yrs, he would've taken a few more classics.

That's Savitri in Patalabhairavi? WOW! Naaku teleene teleedu. She's so slim! Patalabhairavi, another of K.V Reddy's classics. What an entertainer it was!

Yeah, that was Savitri when she was a 16-year old.
I've seen Patabhairavi's heroine Malati a couple of times too in our hometown (she was visiting her sister). They are actually Hindi-speaking from MP (Jagdalpur-Raipur area) from a goldsmith family. She ended up as a Telugu heroine opposite NTR in a K.V. Reddy film!

That was probably her first and last movie. she wasn't so beautiful. We used to wonder how K.V Reddy selected her as his heroine. I thought the lady who did the 'Ithihasam Vinnara' song looked more beautiful than the heroine.

The one heroine I feel so bad for is Kanchana Mala. I believe she was very beautiful. I did see a few pix of hers. She indeed was so beautiful. Sad that she acted only in 11 movies. I believe she entered into a contract with the Gemini film producers. They started a movie with her and never completed it, intentionally. I believe they wanted to bring her down on purpose. The poor woman was bound to the contract and couldn't act in other movies. Must be frustrating. She has even lost her mental balance because of this, i heard. Died as an impoverished woman. Sad!

Directors work in strange ways.---- Another hometowner of ours who made good in the movies is a guy named Raghunath Panigrahi. He is an Oriya guy. He sang two all time great songs in Telugu --- challani raja o chandamama (Ilavelpu), madi sharada devi mandirame (Jayabheri). Later he married the famous Odissi dancer Sanjukta Panigrahi, quit film singing, and only sang for his wife's dance programs for the rest of his career.
