When in Chennai, shop at Phonenix Market City. Great service, great people
At the outset we understand the sentiment of your email and we wish to clarify the following:-
We always continue to have the greatest respect for the Tamil Language as Tamil is one of the longest surviving classical languages in the world. It is an established fact that Tamil has been described as "the only language of contemporary India which is recognisably continuous with a classical past" and having "one of the richest literatures in the world".
Our respect for the Tamil language is reflected in the name of the mall which is prominently displayed in Tamil. (picture is attached herewith).
As per the standard policy of the Mall we have asked all Individual shops to ensure that the name of the shop be in written Tamil as this is a requirement as per the law and must be adhered to at all times. In the mall there are many shops which have the name of the shop written in Tamil. For those shops who have not followed the guidelines as yet, we have asked them to do the needful at the earliest and the same is in process.
We have installed several art works inside the mall and the description of the art work has been done in English and As well as Tamil since we wanted the non-English reading public also to know about the same.
With regards to the music played in the mall, we wish to inform you that we do play Tamil carnatic / classical music from albums of M S Subbalakshmi and music compositions of famous artist like Muralidharan, Ganesh and Kumaresh, Vittal Ramamurthy, R K Shriramkumar, Nagai Sriram, L.Athira Krishna, T.K.V. Ramanujacharyulu, M. Lalitha and M. Nandini, Balu Raguraman from time to time. Due to the cosmopolitan nature of the visitors to the mall we do play english music as well.
Thanks and Regards,

'Phoenix Marketcity'? That's an english name. Merely writing an english name in tamil won't do. An english name for the mall suggests utter disrespect for the tamil language. Pressure should be put on them to change the name of the mall to a pure tamil name.

Probably they were forced to use a distorted one at gun point by Hindians or Sinhalese.

ya, the whole letter suggests that the mall management was under tremendous pressure.
