Two out of the four eve teasers, who allegedly harassed a college student in the Metro train on October 12, have surrendered before the Ulsoor Police on Thursday.

The accused have been identified as Akhilesh, E.P. and Ajay Ghosh, both diploma holders in computer engineering working in BPOs in the City. The duo accompanied by their advocate surrendered before the police and were later released on bail by the police.

After Namma Metro authorities failed to take necessary action against the eve-teasers, the victim later filed a complaint with the Ulsoor police, which, after much reluctance registered a case of eve-teasing on October 21.

Meanwhile, when the news was published in the media and went viral on social networking websites, the accused were compelled them to surrender. One of them Ajay Ghosh was also sacked from the job by his company that took serious note of the charge against their employee, police said.

Claiming that they were innocent, the duo told the police that they had gone to experience Metro train where they met the two other two accused.

Since it was their first Metro train journey from MG Road to Byappanahalli, they started clicking photos to which the complainant objected thinking they were taking her photos, the accused told the police.

Further, they told the police that the girl asked them to come along with her to the Metro authorities and filed a complaint alleging harassment. But, she later withdrew the complaint stating that she does not want to pursue the case, the accused said. The victim in her complaint to the metro had urged the authorities to step up security to ensure safety of women passengers to avoid any eventualities.

The accused said since they met the other two accused for the first time, they do not know their details or whereabouts. The Ulsoor police have recorded their statement for further investigations.
