Please rent out Sholay, or look it up on youtube. How can you even call yourself Indians, if you don't know who Gabbar Singh is? Or else, Kayal Vizhi is waiting with doors to Sri Lanka open.

saw sholay years ago.. didn't feel anything special about it.

from college days to friends here in the US, every skit by a naarthie would include something from sholay..kinda boring if I may..

Since we have gotten used to the idea of mass migration, I think we should all move to Sri Lanka. Once that happens, we should start a North Sri Lankan vs South Street Lankan conflict..

I think we should spice it up further.. make it better- learn from the past..

To that end, here goes:

1) establish east sri lankan/ west sri lankan conflict
2) The northies and southies ally themselves and fight against a westie/ eastie alliance
3) Sometimes, the alliances shift at a moment's notice - so you never know who is going to be fighting whom
etc etc

also, I remember watching this show as a kid which has a SI couple.. in that the wife would repeatedly say, 'I want to see KamaLahassan movie'.. and I remember objecting to it with 'why the heck is she calling kamal as kamala... years later when I joined this board, that made sense.

i was under the impression that he split his name to appeal to the NI audience after ek duje ke liye. but it looks like he has changed his name for good.

Ah I see. I don't think I am going to watch Sholay though. It's like Maria with her "I am not going to move" (never mind that she led a couple of user revolts in disgust at Sulekha). I am not going to watch Sholay, Baazigar, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and a number of Bollywood movies just because they are so popular. Although I have happily watched many Govinda movies. Aiseich.

sholay is woth a watch. It is an iconic movie. And it is enjoyable. Some of the dialogues/jokes from the movie have become so common place that you may think of: "oh it came from here". If do decide to take a break from shahnama, it will lighten you up.
