shouldn't it be outlaws or dropped by the muslims ? In mohammadan times only the Mian knew how to read and write and read the clock. Hence it was his responsibility to call everyone to prayer at the right time - sort of announcing the time. With most muslims aware of clock, cell phone and time reading where is the need for a call for prayer?

Very valid point (for once). Taking your argument one step further, isn't prayer itself outdated? Can't the omniscient God make out your piety and devotion without you having to explicitly sing his praises?
