Actually, Erdogan and Modi are a lot alike. Plus about a 100 years back most of the Middle East was ruled from Istanbul.

But that was before the days of ISIS, LeT, Al-Queda, Talibanis, etc.. Can you recall any iSlami terror organization from the 19th century?

Perhaps we should go back to the glorious days of the Ottoman Sultanate.Marathadi-Saamiyaar wrote:Hellsangel wrote:Actually, Erdogan and Modi are a lot alike. Plus about a 100 years back most of the Middle East was ruled from Istanbul.

Unfortunately, that is easier said than done. Turkish miilitary cannot handle Israel, Iran, or even Jordon decisively. There were no countries in the middle east in those days or any govt/institution.
Turkey is using the Iraqi mess and ISIS issue to establish a base in the Iraqi Kurdistan and ENSURE they dont interact with Turkish Kurds and cause problems for Turkey. There is no other agenda - of course, if it can take over Iraqi Kurdistan - along with its oil - it will be an icing on the cake for the Turks.

You get my point, your Holiness. There may have been no countries then but there was the glorious Sultanate. The Sultan was the Caliph and the Middle East had the Sultan's Vilayets and their Valis. No Israel, no Palestine, no Iraq, no Saudi...Marathadi-Saamiyaar wrote:Hellsangel wrote:Perhaps we should go back to the glorious days of the Ottoman Sultanate.Marathadi-Saamiyaar wrote:Hellsangel wrote:Actually, Erdogan and Modi are a lot alike. Isn't Erdogan stating the obvious? Any third rate political analyst could see Middle east's not so hidden sectarian divide slowly bursting open over the past decade.

Of course...what he "means" is that the Turkish troops are in Iraq not for any ulterior motive but a noble objective of keeping the political boundaries "intact" Bcz Turkey is being left out of the Syrian equation and they desperately want a PERMANENT base/hold in Mosul - for its own agenda.
But, then I have noticed Turks are some of the dumbest when it comes to analyzing situations and either they are coward or short-tempered impulsive guys.
