But what has become a worrying factor ahead of the tour is the growing groupism among the Telugus in their adopted country.

Not just on regional basis but they are grossly divided on caste lines and there are local associations in the US exclusively for different castes.

“When Chandrababu’s son Lokesh came here last year, there was a lot of commotion as these different groups virtually fought with each other. The situation has only worsened in the last one year with some new (caste) groups springing up,” an NRT businessman, who has been invited for a one-on-one meeting with Chandrababu, said.

This is nothing new, Telugus in US have always been full of gigantic egos which obviously leads to lack of unity among them. As usual, Kammas & Reddys, APites & Telanganites, will blame each other.
