III Test - India to bat first
Aussies won the toss and elected to bowl. Both teams playing 4 fast bowlers. Vinay Kumar in for Ashwin.

dravid's having some serious footwork problems and it's painful to hear tony greig and the aussie vets going on and on about it. i'd watch star TV but then will have to contend with the stupid indian ads and shastri's overwrought commentary.

even if they escape the morning session, they'll have to contend with the fremantle doctor in the afternoon.

they must try him at #6 in the next innings and the last test and if he is as careless as he usually is, he must be kicked out.

he should be tried at #11. If he gets out....no sweat.. If he scores his usual 30, it will be a great innings.

laxman and kohli were both looking good but kohli threw it away. it perhaps affected laxman. dhobi could not unfurl his Speeding Tricycle and Advancing Stealth Bomber shots and got out on 12. truly a leader - bleeding from the front.
IND will bowl on this picth on day one which must have been dhobi's dream anyway. well, they must must must make the new ball talk. anything less than 4 wickets tonight is not acceptable. ishant sharma better gear up.

IPL has destroyed India. Now these guys play like it is a 20/20. The biggest Shani is Sehwag. He should be dropped for good. Fab 4 can at least bat another tour but this moron should be dropped NOW. Force an injury on him - like asking him to field at silly point. Someone will break his nose or bald head. Good riddance.

The hero of the 3rd PERTH test gives the reason for the Indian Debacle:
******************
Perth, Jan 13 (IANS) India batsman Virat Kohli said Friday that it was bad luck and not lack of temperament or technique that has been ailing the team in its poor run in the ongoing Test series against Australia.
India were again shot out for 161 runs in the first innings shortly after tea on the first day of the third Test at the WACA Ground. India are trailing 0-2 in the series and are now staring at another loss.
Kohli, who top-scored for his team with 44, said India lacked in nothing more than a few lucky breaks at crucial times.
"Luck is a very important thing in cricket, and unfortunately (it) hasn't been going our way in important phases just before breaks, after breaks," Kohli said.
........
******
Just like Warner had lucky breaks and the rest of the Aussies likely to have for the next 4 days.

Re: III Test - India to bat first
it's incredibly hard for me to come out and say this, but maybe dravid should contemplate retiring. the footwork looked awful, not at all his usual organized self, and so many of his recent dismissals have been bowled. that's really troubling. i don't want him hounded out and the public has far less patience for anyone whose last name is not tendulkar. i'd just like to remember dravid as my favorite indian cricketer with amazing consistency, fantastic work ethic, and a genuine good guy with no false modesty. i don't want that memory to be sullied.

He should have done a Steve Waugh at the end of the English tour. I think that was the blip before the burnout. Batsmen score at that intensity once every 3 or 4 years, and Dravid is not likely to play at that level for a long time - if at all.
He should announce his retirement at the end of this tour and leave with a century to his name.
So should VVSL.

Exactly; and all these nicks are going to slip cordon and Oz make no mistake there.

But VVSL nicks are calls for dropping, while SRT's nicks are blips of hopes and excitement.
Hence VVSL also should retire. The Mumbai Mafia will not think twice before using his nicks to kick him out.

Zaheer is working hard. Kohli dropped one chance that carried. Can this team even try?

Hard work. two wickets. India has nothing to lose. Now no body is expecting much from them. India should keep fighting.

Re: III Test - India to bat first
we need fast bowlers who bowl over 140 kph. like yadava. its pointless to play vinay kumar who bowls around 130 kph.
meanwhile, ponting looking in fine touch.
----
anyone heard of varun aaron? akram had praised his bowling earlier.

good to see yadav bowling with some fire. got rid of ponting. there is something very satisfying about disturbing the furniture of one of the best batsmen in the history of the game. i'm sure siddle felt like that yesterday.

yadav is remainding me of Andy roberts. Andy was a little shorter but much more accurate.

if you replaced vinay with madanlal (and i mean the madanlal of today not the 80s man) nobody would notice.

I am talking about the build. Yadav look strong and looks like a west indian bowler Andy or Marshall. Yes. Yadav has miles to go before being compared to them.

Re: III Test - India to bat first
I saw a readers comment today at Rediff - something I have been saying all along.
Drop Sehwag to 3 down and let SRT open with Gambhir, and SRT can use his experience to guide the rest of the team and also provide some stability to the top order.
Of course, he also said it was stupidity to replace Ashwin with Vinay.

India bowled out aussies for 359. That is they got them all for 210 today. Not great but something positive for a team that could only take one wicket for 500 runs. Someone should rise their hand and Yadav took the lead.
Zaheer bowled with intensity, Ishant tried hard.
Indian batting is another matter. But India got nothing to lose. They just have to keep plugging away and let things work their own way. Two major century contributions are required just make it a simple fight.

Sachin out lbw. He wasn't happy with the decision. I agree, whatever the technology shows and the aussie commentators are blurting out it looked like was missing the leg stump.

Re: III Test - India to bat first
SRT goes for 8. laxman goes for a duck. and here i was hoping them to score a hundred at perth. eff me.
but this match was lost because of warner's innings. had he got out cheaply, IND would not have been in so much trouble. i don't see these players winning the last test either. if anything, they will be indifferent to the outcome and will lose it badly. time for changes. replace the idiot opener with rahane, laxman with rohit sharma and vinay kumar with ojha - just to test their mettle.
