my ekg story
it's just that scary age group
one of my dudes from the past had to recently get a diagnostic angiography done
another friend got abnormal ekg
yet other is starting some kidney disease
not to mention hysterectomy done on a few
and diabetes in the husbands of some friends
I landed myself at the doc for a complete annual which I had been avoiding for 3 years now (well, ekg was done 2 years ago and basic vitals last year for insurance).
they decided to do my ekg.
The nurse was like - can you please remove everything from your pockets
me - ok - and pat my hips
then she fiddles with the contacts and goes - ugh can you please remove everything from your pockets
me - I don't even have pockets
nurse - I don't know, something is wrong with the machine
me - why what's happening?
nurse - it's all static. do you have a heart problem?
me - not that I know of. I mean my chest hurts, but I was told it is heartburn
nurse - shifts around the tubes like the 5th time and goes - ugh it's coming all wrong, it's a MESS
me - why, am I in a heart attack?
nurse - NOOOOO
finally she goes - finally! got a good reading! Looks normal to me
me - in my head - what if it's all normal NOW but if I was having a heart attack 5 min ago?
doc comes by and goes- are you ready for the news?
me - yeah (nervously)
doc - you are going to live 70 more years
me - outwardly - thanks. inwardly - nope.
(still awaiting a green signal on my thyroids)

Re: my ekg story
thanks!
not sure if it's a gift lol, i mean living to be old... when i was younger, if any college friend said they dread old age, i would be like, 'no why?! i wanna be old, i wanna see kids, grandkids, great grandkids, i wanna do it all'. But now as i have seen more old age, i think differently. Besides, i think once your core family loses a member, life changes for you. Now i look back at all those people who had lost their parent or sibling, i think to myself, 'wow i knew these people only partially, coz somewhere deep within, they are probably still nursing a big loss'.

nice story telling! you've improved at writing, or, you were always good.
Happy Diwali!
I miss thanksgiving in NYC. During the thanksgiving break, my college campus would be deserted and I'd walk up to the local diner which served a thanksgiving meal for foreign students like me.
This time I am the diner and you are me. Sure feels that way in this deserted forum/campus.

it just happened so... until 2015 i went almost yearly.
then the whole 2016 went as - i will go next week, or oh shoot i forgot to fast, or let me lost 10 lbs first.
in 2017 i had to go to the hospital in Jan, where they did everything, so i spent next 3-4 months trying to get my report out of them, online. didn't work. Then i had to do a checkup for insurance to get a credit back, so i kept postponing it, until it was just 10 days left, and i gave in and went to cvs minute clinic like they had recommended, and there they do only the basic vitals.
This year too, i went to quest for insurance where they just did the vitals. Then many people began prompting me to get thyroid checked, as i gained enormous weight, and many times feel tired or sleep by 9. But i don't have the MAIN issue of it, i.e. feeling cold. And i have had other issues and suspecting a couple other issues - the age old irrational worry of - if my friend has this, and i have similar symptoms, so maybe i have it too.
for thyroids, my asian doc was funny. When i asked him to write thyroid tests, he came over and pressed my throat/neck, asked me to swallow 4-5 times, and goes - 'eh, maybe it's just fat'. LOL

Re: my ekg story
update (for the 3 people reading this lol)
my thyroid is fine, but i got 3-4 other things low, a couple of which was kinda expected as i have had it in the past. but one thing came low that i never bothered about until now, and have to google the skin out of it now. But they all together kinda explain why i was feeling the way i was feeling recently.
Basically, i need to start exercising again, big time. I was doing zero weight building exercises coz of 5 other issues caused by it (small injuries), but no escape now. In a way, a good wake up call.

one thing i have learnt in 53 years is to value friendship (not talking about you). i never valued friendship -- more or less out of disdain for others. but now i am less judgemental of others and value friendship more. the sort of friendship where both friends are forgiving of each other's shortcomings -- through the trials & tribulations of life.

Happy Diwali GK!
I was unsure if you were real or fake. I understand AS was playing the fake here.
How have you been? Any visits to India? Any memorable moments? Let's talk. :-)
What's happening in US politics?

Nice pictures of your home and family, Memeee.
btw, the picture of three men (two young and one older) is that of your husband and two sons?
Re: my ekg story
husband, lover, live-in partner... how does it matter Lamberdar? These are all human constructs: marriage, divorce, girlfriend, single? no?
Even age does not matter.

Is that yourhusband companion in your DP? I can't see clearly.

Are you saying that the pics you posted earlier don't mean anything?memeee wrote:husband, lover, live-in partner... how does it matter Lamberdar? These are all human constructs: marriage, divorce, girlfriend, single? no?

You are right about my companion in my "DP".
Re: my ekg story
OMG! Why is this being allowed here? Where is the admin? Who are you to decide what means anything to me? Do you know how rude that it is? You can't bully me here like this and get away with it! How old are you?
