Thanks for the wishes. Yes. He is Great. But I wonder there is not much (one would expect more) reference or talk about his greatness/songs esp by leading Vidhwans or spiritual discourses, probably he was against the restrictions/customs in Tambram household? ( I read somewhere that he will walk with his wife by putting his hand over her shoulder in street and others made fun of him/them?Smile). Compare that scene to nowadays. Not sure how much it has changed in Chennai/Triplicane Smile

that's what real leaders/revolutionaries do..they walk their talk - literally, here.

aside - there has always been perpetual efforts to suppress his contributions and obfuscate his fame, intensified more these days with almost unlimited access to media - funded by DK parties, just like their earlier attempts with Kannadasan, which ironically had a boomerang effect.

Nothing seems to have changed. There is still the effort going on to keep out the Hindu female devotees in fertility age group (10-50 yrs.) from entering Sabarimala shrine to pray and worship Lord Ayyappa because doing that might hurt the sentiments of male priests and devotees (mostly SI).

Seva ji, don’t fall for the comminist/leftist propaganda. You north indians don’t understand the culture and traditions of south indians. Disrespecting women for their monthly cycles is not the reason for women are not allowed into that temple. That is the only temple where women are not allowed and there are mythological/spiritual/practical reasons for it. If you have time, learn more about it. Disrespecting women is the last/no reason for it. If anything, women are respected in Kerala more than anywhere in India. In fact, they have a matriarchal society there.

The one who filed a writ petition about it in the supreme court is a muslim, the women who tried to enter the temple are either muslim or christian or atheist, not the spiritual women with devotion. The ones who are making a hue and cry about it are the commies/leftists who want to malign Hinduism.

Sorry your post got side tracked. Lovely singing. I wish I understood the lyrics. The younger girl is so cute!!

Btw, I don’t know if you came across this little kid. A child prodigy! Some poorva janma sukrutam there. Here’s him soulfully singing my favorite, Pibare Ramarasam’:

P.A., the current Sabarimala shrine controversy is rooted only in the bad attitude and action of Hindu male priests and devotees in keeping out the Hindu female devotees during fertility years (10-50 yr. age) from entering the shrine and praying to Lord Ayyappa. The women from Muslim and Christian communities (even those sending petitions ot SC)  or the Commies and left-leaning Govts. are not the primary cause for this. This whole situation can be rectified in just 15 minutes if the temple administrators and priests invite a couple of Hindu women (not having the monthly periods) inside the temple and have them offer prayer / worship to Lord Ayyappa, who is as much a caring and loving deity (God) for women as men.

Sevaji, I donot want to repeat what K said earlier (1 or 2 key sentences). Search for answer on this by Sadhguru and he explained clearly!

Aside, how do you know Lord Ayyappa is a caring and loving deity for women and men? Just asking Smile

saar, it is just the northindian mentality using their god-given right to disparage and make fun of southindian traditions and culture . a simple solution which only the smart northindians can come up with and tell us lowly southindians . no point in arguing and trying to convince such people.

Seva Ji, you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. Please, don't get into this topic.

A little tidbit for you: No one can just walk into that temple. Even men. One has to take the Vratha diksha and follow a rigorous Brahmacharya (celibacy) for 41 days. During the 41 days, they wear only traditional black clothes, no footwear (or just the wooden paadukas), no alcohol, no meat, no sex, no luxuries (have to sleep down on the floor on a mat), no impure thoughts and have to lead a very spiritual life. When they take the dikha, they are considered as Ayyappa swamy himself who was a Brahmachari and try to lead a life like Him for 41 days (No one calls them by their name. They are addressed as 'Swami' during that time). Only after that are they eligible to visit the shine, which they trek on foot to the hilltop. This is a centuries old practice. One has to strive on the spiritual path with disciple to enter that shrine. Everyone got to respect that. Not any tom, dick, harry or phoolwanti can enter it just like that out of their whims and fancies.

True. They are so clueless. They just don't get it. It's annoying when northies take a higher ground and try to preach the southies.

Sad to see Bharathi’s legacy not recognized and celebrated to the extent it deserves to be within TN. The house he lived in Triplicane which has been turned into a museum of sorts is also in a state of disrepair and neglect.

If Sadhguru can be in the company of young beautiful women (including Bollywood actresses in 20-40 age group sitting next to him)  during the delivery of his religious discourses without having his 'brahamcharya' disrespected and endangered, then what's there to disrespect and endanger Lord Ayyappa's brahamcharya if fertile age Hindu women devotees (10-50 yrs. age) enter his shrine and pray and worship?

North Indians also had a similar outdated centuries-old tradition of keeping women out of one of their temples, what they smartly got rid of it a few years ago (in 2016),

Read the above hi-lite carefully. The whole thing about "41" days 'vrata' (abstaining from sex etc.) seems to have been built up by men long ago to enable only the male devotees to enter the shrine, while conveniently keeping out the fertile-age women from entering the shrine because they regularly have their periods after four weeks (28-30 days) which invariably makes them lose their 'vrata" (as they are not able to keep it over 41 days without breaking it during monthly periods). moreover, it seems the sight of women, especially the young and beautiful, inside the shrine would be more of a threat to the brahamcharya of vrata-dhari men having had no sex over 41 days than the brahamcharya (celibacy) of Lord Ayyappa who sees all men and women equally and lovingly as his children. There is no need to prolong this outdated tradition of keeping fertile-age (10-50 yr.) women out of Sabarimala shrine, especially when they are not in their monthly menstruation period.

http://hillpost.in/2016/04/ban-removed-on-womens-entry-in-baba-balak-nath-temple-cave-at-hamirpur/105774/
The tradition of not allowing menstruating women to enter a temple or take part in the community worship (puja) probably started long ago as women in general then did not have proper / reliable aids (safety pads etc. to take care of "fluids" and medicines etc. in case of pain / discomfort) to keep in check their menstruating condition from becoming a public spectacle which might cause embarrassment / discomfort to the menstruating woman and a distraction to others (men and women).

Naturally, the things are different now. There are reliable tools and medicines available to women these days which have made monthly periods to them like any other normal(painless and lacking discomfort) feminine physical activity and part of life, while also enabling them to freely take part in any worship / puja and enter temples (without the threat of discomfort / difficulty to themselves and distraction to others).

The change in the old attitude and practice of keeping menstruating women out of places of worship (including temples) is therefore long overdue, considering as well that the Mimamsa (the Vedic / Hindu philosophy on rituals and traditions etc.) also advocates the immediate abandonment of traditions, customs and rituals which are now obsolete and outdated and appear to be detrimental to society presently, even though they might have had some positive aspect / use in the past and long ago.
