I, personally, get a feeling of calm and solidity, not because Laxman will always score but because you know that he will never let you down in terms of effort: you know that he is there and he will pull his weight. There is no higher compliment.

This is what I m referring to when one thinks of VVSL and RD...No other batsman, repeat no other, brings that calming confidence and assurance to a team.

These 2 and Anil Kumble are gentleman warriors. Sehwag is the soft spoken assassin. Tendulkar is the squeaky voiced record seeking rat.

I can feel a cold seething anger among laxman's fans. I think laxman is calm and comfortable and at peace with himself.
Goodness is not a zero sum game. Good laxman doesnot need a villian. Watch thevideo.

deccan chronicle carried laxman's farewell comments.
as expected laxman said he timed his retirement to give younger generation a start at home against relatively easy nz. He always had india's interests at his heart. Great guy.
