Hmm. Good point. And back in the day, there wasn't any bottled water to compare against.

In any case, the water supplied to Mylapore Ward 3, Lane 6 is not mere water. It must be sacred teertham.

True to a large extent. But, the public has been bought over by bottled water industry (around $25 Bill/yr), people in Asia, Africa, So America, and Europe are convinced the public tap water is not potable.

I asked someone - what water do they use for bathing, brushing their teeth, and for other uses - including in the kitchen (in making Chutney, juice, Raitha, etc..). Also, in most non-european countries, the fake, non-inspected, water is rampant. There are 100s of small scale industries that make "bottled" water in India delivered in carts and tempos. None of the those can be guaranteed

- despite what the high intellectuals of this forum say.

But, then bottled water industry has won the battle (many of which area owned by Coca-cola, Nestle, etc...)
