1. I think the most hated aspect of the caste system is the 'inheritance' factor - that caste is decided at birth.
2. The modern day adaptations of the caste system is a e-Harmony like 'attribute set' which stratifies the modern day population into different interest groups. Castes could now be rendered into sharing a common set of hashtags.
3. The occupational segmentation of the modern world has done much to do away with caste system.
4. Inter-caste marriages are the surest way of diluting 'pure' traditions that were passed down for generations through history. It is not clear if *traditions* have indeed survived past, say, 200 years.

This paper has a lot of mathematical equations. So whatever the author says must be true.
