What a violation of patient trust.

Dr. Nikita Levy got his Maryland medical license in 1988. His entire career, he was a gynecologist at Johns Hopkins Medicine treating over 1,000 patients.
Now, each one could be a victim. On February 8, he was fired following allegations that he photographed and videotaped his patients

Took his own life, eh? What was he planning to (or doing) with the secretly recorded videos? Black mail? Selling online? Jeez, I wonder how women feel while going to their male gyn's any more. *I would start with the premise that once you strip the layers (pardon the pun!) doctors are not superhuman- and no different from anyone. It's the range from high professionalism/ethical standards to low. If a Doctor is into certain sexual fantasies- fetishes-habits-obsessions..which become finally out of control..it will hurt the patient/public and will eventually end in self-destruction.
We "trust" our doctors- esp. a male Gyn based on their education, training and ethics..and a "female assistant" is always required in most clinical settings when a breast/pelvic exam is done..but, no one knows "what the Clinician's mind" is doing.
*If it is not a cultural/personal-comfort issue for the female patient, they should be fine with a male Gyn (we weigh the "competence" of the Gyn with other cultural/personal preferences) and most male Gyns obviously- "behave in ethical/professional" ways no matter what their mind is doing.
*But, if it is a cultural/personal preference and comfort issue, it's better to see a female doctor/Gyn, imo.
