I love flying, but I have never gone up in a hot air balloon. It somehow feels unsafe to me, although I have not looked at accident data for balloons vs. motorized aircraft. News like this only acts as confirmation for my pre-existing bias.

I don't like those helicopter rides over Niagara Falls or Grand Canyon either.

If you are not afraid of heights and love flying..it's fun for a few hours!

There are always risks in everything..but, it's worth trying, imo.
