Just received in mail - Chennaivaasi by T.S. Tirumurti

"When Tam-Bram (sic) boy Ravi and Jewish American girl Deborah fall in love, they decide to come to Chennai to seek Ravi's parents' consent for hte marriage. While they don't quite expect ready acceptance, they are unprepared for how the announcement stirs the very vitals of the joint family.

Undeterred, Deborah and Ravi move in together - creating a scandal among family and friends...."

Ordered from Higginbothams - Meluha trilogy for early summer family reading.

I am reading The World until Yesterday by Jared Diamond. It is a comparison of "traditional societies" -- small-scale clans and chiefdoms -- with large, state societies. I am about half-way through the book, and I find it rather fascinating. From those comparisons, he draws some potential lessons for us that we can pick up from those traditional societies in a pretty broad range of areas, from war, civil and criminal justice to child rearing and elder-care practices.

Half read the long long final Shiva's trilogy - it was part of the New Year Resolution to read 2 books a year. Having a dilemma to read the technical spec documentation that I wrote with my eyes popping out. May be I should just send it. I always include too many diagrams that shuold make it clear. Ya, not reading it.
