why would anybody want to get married at the age of 18(girl) and 22(boy) anyway...

Yeah in old times it worked for many, but I don't think people should do that anymore. They are not ready for that kinda commitment, make mistakes, and then stick around just to 'make it work' when instead if they were just living together, they'd have walked out.

Not sure if this kind of violent streak tames down with age though...

In some, rather many, ways India and desi women have moved far ahead of the white women.

We are talkign only about middle class, educated segment and not the rural communities on both sides.

Desi women almost all got to college, go to work, and focus on careers - BUT also marrying and having a family without sacrificing this part of their lives - unlike most western women.

Desi women dont take their husband's name anymore - last 20 years, but the western women substantially STILL take hubby's family name.

desi women are acceptable to men more readily to voters and compete with men in politics and even law enforcement. How many times, have you heard of female sheriffs/ police chiefs/police supdts in the US ?
