Max,

There really is a guy named Vasudevan Lakshminarayanan who lives in North America.

He went to high school in California. Then went back to India, did his B.Sc and M.Sc in Physics at Madras. Came back to America to get his Ph.D from Berkeley.

His non-indian friends have a hard time pronouncing his name. That includes his friends from high-school days also. They all call him Vengu which is his nickname.

I admire him for not changing his name.
