i haven't read anything recreational in a long time. so compiling a list for the summer. so far here is what i have:

1) chases and escapes: the mathematics of pursuit and evasion by paul nahin

2) return of a king: the battle for afghanistan, 1839-42 by william dalrymple

read these two recently and recommend them if you are looking for well written, gripping, page-turners. they have a physicist acting as a part time sleuth.

written by keigo higashino, they are more of "howdunit" flavour than "whodunit".

(1) devotion of suspect X

(2) salvation of a saint

Have been reading Jared Diamond's latest book, The World until Yesterday. Recommend it highly.

Next, I want to read some fiction. Has been a while since I read any.
