He knows that. That is why the word kannad is in single quote. He is pronouncing the word as it is usually pronounced by "outsiders".

You mean Naarth Indians AKA Hindians?

People from Uttar Pradesam, madhya Pradesam, Uttarkaandam tend to hindize south indian states and languages - due to their inferior overall knowledge, accompanied by arrogance.

The Kannadigas don't seem to mind Kannada being pronounced as Kannad. They are fine with it.

Did your 2 Kannad friends tell you that ?

Tell this to anyone in Karnataka outside a 50 km radius and see what happens to you.

my paternal grandfather was a revenue officer in the british raj and later one of the first members of the administrative service post independence. he always used to call hindi, hin-dee. i used to think it odd until i realized he was saying it exactly the same way the brits used to. i don't know why i was reminded of him in this thread.

Isn't it true that you spell 'Kerala' as 'Keral' as you did in the 'How to deal with Cauvery/Karnataka' thread and as you have done earlier. Max has requested you to spell the word in the correct way but you insist on spelling it in the way someone from UP or Bihar would pronounce the word. This being the case why should you get worked up if someone pronounces Kannada as Kannad.
