Spot fixing is when only part of the game is fixed.

And, you need to ask ???
Don't you know men are dumb when it comes to sports. They will watch it no matter what.
Sort of like Strawberry ice cream (or what was that you were craving about last month)... although you know it is full of calories and how bad it is for you, you just can't stop eating it.

"match fixing" is when the outcome of the match is fixed and the players involved work towards that. "spot fixing" is where just small events within the match are controlled - whether a given ball will be a no ball or the minimum runs conceded in a given over. i don't know what other events are used.
interestingly, all the spot fixers seem to be bowlers. so far, no batsman has been charged for spot fixing, as far as i know. rather unfair to the batsmen who may also want to earn some easy money!
