Seriously, I wonder if Apple has set itself up for the same thing happened to it in the '80s and '90s. They basically dominated a category, made the most user-friendly products by controlling both hardware and software, and then had a less vertically-integrated player come in with a kinda-sorta open platform that wasn't quite as control-freakish, and enabled tens of companies to fight Apple together. Is Android now what the PC was to Apple's Mac? Time will tell, but I don't like the comparison, even if I made it myself.

A lot of people are wondering. But I doubt whether that will happen. Android still has to make a serious dent in the high-end market. Future belongs to tablets, there is no competition to ipad yet. I am sure android tablets will eventually catch up, they will take at least another year.
If the companies innovate they will stay in the game else they will perish.
