Nobel Prize winning Economist  Amartya Sen on the economy of an independent Tamil Nadu

I have posted when I first stumbled in to Sulekha that Tamil Nadu would be financially much better if it had become independent in 1947. The ignorant pseudo-intellects, professors and assorted PhDs here said TN is better financially as state in India. Here is from a Nobel prize winning economists.

"The regional records were very diverse indeed, and if some states wewre separated out from rest of India, we would see a very different picture for the average of the country taken together. A number of Indian states--Kerala and Tamil Nadu, for example--would be at the top of the South Asian comparisons if they were treated as separate countries, and others--Uttar Pradesh Madhya Pradesh, for example--would do enormously worse." (Professor Jean Drèze and Nobel Prize winning Amartya Sen in An Uncertain Glory: India and its Contradictions.
