those beautiful country roads
look so pretty on a weekend morning and so ominous when you head out too late to beat sundown. glad i got home in one piece without being hit by a pickup truck or eaten by a pack of coyotes.

What? You never drove in the evenings/nights through those 2-lane winding roads on the Rockies or Northern Utah. That will beat driving through Mass any day.MaxEntropy_Man wrote: look so pretty on a weekend morning and so ominous when you head out too late to beat sundown. glad i got home in one piece without being hit by a pickup truck or eaten by a pack of coyotes.

Max, welcome to biking. The first time is always exciting.
Here are websites to help locate bike routes in your state.

I have been using such sites in different states for overs 10 years.

do any of you know about bike lights? I am googling for Turbocat light? i think, with a good amount of prep, one can bike at night without having to think about not being able to see ahead and all that scary stuff.

Impy ,
the problem with night biking is not always what you can see. in most cases it is wharf the motorist travelling at 30 plus mph can see. one should wear clothes that glow and reflect light.

first time? i've been biking for donkey's years. had stopped for a few because i wanted to run instead. now i'm back to my old hobby. i've done many of the trails on your list. i prefer biking on hilly country roads rather than on designated trails.southindian wrote:Max, welcome to biking.
