If they're in the hands of law-abiding citizens who use them to defend themselves, then yes, it will level the playing field big time. No one with a gun will get cocky and go on the offense...unless he or she want to die.

Furthermore, universal gun ownership is coming, whether you like it or not. The gang problem is getting worse by the day because these welfare queens keep having kids who go on to join gangs or they go on to have dozens of kids of their own who go on again...it's a vicious circle that keeps multiplying exponentially.
