...great piece. Wish they had one with Ramanujan and CV Raman. Perhaps some radio interview exists somewhere.

Today, accidentally I found out that the basic "cell" was discovered by none other than Robert Hooke - yes the same dude. He was also the architect who built many of the famous building in London including the Greenwich Observatory. Also, reading the animosity between Newton and him indicates professional jealousy and enmity existed throughout history.

These were the true inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary geniuses.

a bit too self aggrandizing for me, but understandable given the era and his general stature in india.
