At the Congress manifesto release on Wednesday, Mr. Gandhi had attacked Mr. Modi saying, “It is not about an individual, but he (Mr. Modi) represents a ideology and that is exclusionary ideology.”

>>>And Muslim league is supposed to be inclusive?

When Jinnah's followers attacked Hindus, RSS came to the rescue of Hindus.

RSS should change their methods, uniform and start teaching its members English and communication skills. The Sanghis should learn Arabic, read Koran and the history of Islam. They should also read about Judaism and Christianity. All these things will help them argue well.

It seems the founder of RSS used to get upset if he saw his followers reading a book or a newspaper. He shunned any intellectual activity.

Running around in shorts with sticks is not a good idea in the 21st century.

I have said it before...RSS organization and their style/approach is almost identical to their nemesis - the Vatican. Just go through their organization, their various sub organizations and their activities, their manner of electing their leader for life and the "collective" leadership, and the insistence that their cadre follow strict guidelines established.

The stick and exercise is a big failure and they dont have any proper training. It gives a false impression they are trained lathimamas. If you talk to them you will see not a single guy evokes any threat and worse than Tambrahmi sissies in aggression. But, that is all the hindus have against guns, bombs, and Kabooms. One thing I noticed is there is a huge undercurrent of support for RSS among the hindus. Be it DMK, ADMK, or PMK of whatever caste, none of them go to their shakas or participate in their activities but in their mind RSS is ONE organization representing "hindu interests"

So Modi agrees with RSS admiration of Hitler and its racist and xenophobic ideas?

----

Unlike other political parties, the BJP runs an online book shop, which offers a variety of books espousing its viewpoint at attractive discount prices.  As far as I have been able to determine, this is a first in India.  There is the caveat that the Irish political party Sinn Fein has an online bookshop, and the Croydon branch of the British Labour Party has signed up to be a member of the Amazon Affiliate Programme, allowing it to collect 15% of the cut on books sold through its site).

The party seems to know how to offer an attractive bargain.  The most expensive item in the store, a three volume work by Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee is on offer at a huge 25% discount (Rs 1500/- marked down from Rs 2000/-).  But this storehouse of knowledge tells more about the BJP than just its business sense.

That Bible of the RSS, the "Bunch of Thoughts" by "Guruji" M.S. Golwalkar, the second Sar Sanghachalak (supreme leader) of the RSS, is on sale (though not at a discount).  Funnily enough, though, Golwalkar's 1939 work, "We, or Our Nationhood Defined", is missing.

Both "Bunch of Thoughts" and "We" are infamous for their racist views. In "Bunch of Thoughts", the Sar Sanghachalak expounds on his opinion that Muslims and Christians are unpatriotic and lack "love and devotion for the nation".  His hatred ranges farther afield.  He describes the Chinese people in these terms: "They eat rats, pigs, dogs, serpents, cockroaches, and everything.  Such men cannot be expected to have human qualities."

The missing "We" is particularly juicy: in it the author lavishes praise on the atrocious Nazi campaign that had gone on in Germany, for most of the 1930s, against Jews and Gypsies.  "There are only two courses open to these foreign elements," Golwalkar explained, "either to merge themselves in the national race and adopt its culture or to live at its mercy so long as the national race may allow them to do so and quit the country at the sweet will of the national race".  He added that this was "a good lesson for us in Hindusthan to learn and profit by".

The absence of "We" calls to mind a Rajya Sabha debate of last year, at the time of the Gujarat government's decision to allow government servants to be members of the RSS.  Kapil Sibal tried to read out a study quoting from "We", and was repeatedly heckled and shouted down by BJP members.  These worthies decided that since Sibal was not reading directly from "We", but rather from a book which quoted "We", he was not quoting authentic RSS sources.  "He is misleading the nation!" shouted the fervid BJP member T.N. Chaturvedi.

Perhaps "We" is missing to prevent anyone reading directly from it in Parliament, and thereby doing away with that silly objection...

FYI - there is no such thing as "membership" in RSS and there are no members. Anyone is allowed to come for a Shakha (which is viewed by OTHERS as membership) or participate in any number of their "service" organization. I have been critical of RSS style and have never attended a single Shakha but still in favor of their varied services to hindu society. Even Islamic Sevak Sangh has copied its "service" style as have and numerous other groups in other religions.

For instance, RSS maintained a registry and conducted matrimonial match even in the 70s exclusively to promote widow remarriage. They run several orphanages who go on to college. They help poor families tackle medical problems by connecting them to clinics, doctors, and hospitals they have influence upon.

I learnt recently that they are now looking into revamping the curriculum focusing on communication skills, individuality (that was a surprise to me), group projects etc in schools run/influenced by them. BTW, these are no-fee/donation schools.

Perhaps Sibal should learn what the RSS is doing instead of reading from some book. If only he had the guts to read the Koran in the Parliament, the hatred in that book would have been funny - to see the least.
