Varun, who is a Lok Sabha candidate from Sultanpur, on Tuesday night in a meeting with teachers and NGOs, praised Rahul Gandhi for the work he has done in his constituency Amethi.

"We require small scale industries, like the ones Rahul Gandhi has set up in Amethi. However, I cannot give that example as I haven't seen the work at the ground level," Varun Gandhi said....


Speaking to reporters in Rae Bareli on Wednesday after his mother Sonia Gandhi filed her nomination papers, Rahul welcomed Varun's statement.

"What Varun said is right, I am very happy other people are appreciating the work done in Amethi," Rahul said when asked by reporters about Varun's comments.

In all likelihood these "small scale" industries have existed in Amethi for a long time, probably even from the time of another Gandhi (MK, aka Mahatama). It's like someone earlier brought to SUCH the news-link about planting rice seedlings using a new and revolutionary technique in Bihar, which in reality has already been used all over India (including Bihar) for a long time.

What are these small scale industries.....

May be he is supplying toilet paper to his vote bank that was previously using the Arabian method (of wiping with rocks).

Some of these industries are those involved in preparing Ayurvedic preparations like Chyawanprash. Others are involved in making hookahs. There are also various cold storage facilities. A science and technology Discovery Park, the first of its kind in India, is also being built in Amethi. The people of Amethi know that Rahul has been good for them.

Rs 4-bn Discovery Park, for which an approval has been given by the Ministry of Science and Technology, is to be set up in the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Information Technology (RGIIT), Amethi.

I have been noticing the science and technology parks / centers (discovery and non-discovery) all over India (north, south, east and west) for several decades. I don't think anyone in right mind these days takes credit for starting them or coming up with the idea about them originally.

according to news reports, the one being set up in Amethi is the first of its kind in India.
