His main gripe seems to be that Modi isn't going to the 'sant samaj' for their 'ashirvaad' and hence his acrimony @ modi.

You did not understand him. He is indicating that traditionally the saints used to bless the political leader but with Narendra Modi the saints are supposed to take blessings of Modi. Only a small coterie of saints are stooping and doing what Modi wants them to do i.e. grovel before him while most saints are staying away from Modi.

Isn't congress 's secular creed requires to not pay attention to saints opinion? Why don't you let BJP and hindus worry about saints.  

However congress practice require you to pay heed to what maulana says. go check that.
