.
The master of realism certainly had a way with words..He is perhaps the only person who could make "Cholera" sound..exotic almost alluring:)
A few quotes from "Love in the times of Cholera"...
“It was the time when they loved each other best, without hurry or excess, when both were most conscious of and grateful for their incredible victories over adversity. Life would still present them with other mortal trails, of course, but that no longer mattered: they were on the other shore."
“She searched the truth with an anguish almost as great as her terrible fear of finding it .”
“He allowed himself to be swayed by his conviction that human beings are not born once and for all on the day their mothers give birth to them, but that life obliges them over and over again to give birth to themselves.”

He was a great writer. I thoroughly enjoyed reading a couple of his books in English translation. I heard from friends that his works are even better in the original.
