Botched execution in Oklahoma

Why don't they do it the old fashioned way like hanging, or just shooting?
Also, even with injecting lethal drugs, why should it take some 40 minutes for the guy to die?
Looks like rustics can do a more humane and better job than those MD, Ph.D scientists in these matters.

I think this is more about the trauma suffered by the executioners. The criminal will die anyway, whether gently or after some suffering.

That's true. Why is it so hard? Why experiment with a 3-drug cocktail (administered one after the other)? Wasn't it a one shot deal all these years? Also, they have been shooting immobilizing darts at wild animals like lions and tigers to put electronic tracking devices on them, and injecting unwanted dogs and cats in animal shelters humanely all these years. Why experiment with new drug regimes, sterilizing needles, procedures etc. now? In the old days thugs used to kill instantaneously with just a handkerchief.

The drug was manufactured in Germany and the company stopped producing the original drug as they and the EU did not want to support death penalty.

In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, they hire Ethiopians to do the honors on Fridays in a public place with the pseudonym "Cho-chop Square." Saudis call it Suk (market square). No need to import drugs, guns/bullets, or anything else - just the Ethiopians with muscles and untroubled by qualms of mercy.
