Regional parties - what is the case against them? Empty Regional parties - what is the case against them?

The long thread "The case against regional parties" have some excellent posts with valid arguments and some silly child like comments. It is so long, I felt it would be easy to start a new thread on similar but slightly different take on this issue.

Can any provide a against specific regional party instead of a self created entity called Regional Party.

What are the specific folies committed by the consequential regional parties such as:

DMK/AIADMK, TDP, BJD, TC

JD(Nitish 's Party), LJP, RJD, Samajwadi, BSP, Lok Dal, INDL(Haryana)

Shivsena, Akalidal

AI Muslim league, National Front (Abdullah Clan), Mufti's outfit

AI Republican Party, Umpteen groups of Kerala

Are there individual entities that play a bad role?

How many of them play a role of effective alternative to local outfits of national entities? Why do they have such appeal for the local people?

MY opinion: Generic argument against regional party falls flat when specifics are requested. You can easily see that many regional parties provide better governance than Congress or BJP (which is not a major accomplishment/Task) .

National parties have fared well in states where they have popular local leaders. YSR in AP (for Congress) and Modi (for BJP).
